The advent of modern communications has opened up the opportunity to find information through out the world over the Internet. During my efforts to produce the video, Kyan’s Karate demonstrated by Hanshi Zenpo Shimabukuro, I came into contact with several people that had access to information in Japan that we in Seibukan were not aware was available.

The common thread between Kyan and Funkakoshi was Anko Azato. Azato was Sokon Matsumura's top student and he taught for Matsumura during the "Golden Age of Okinawan Karate". Shotokan became the benchmark for karate around the world from 1922 until the early 1970s. Seibukan is the link to Shotokan's roots.
